Lockdown maybe easing but ASBESTOS REGULATIONS have NOT!

We must all be very relieved to see that the roll out of the vaccination programme and the success of getting the Covid-19 pandemic under control in the UK will mean that the easing of lockdown is in sight. And whilst some essential trades have worked through, this could mean that many more trades and allied trades will be getting back to work after a long period of layoff, but is your asbestos training up to date?

Any work that could mean the operative could come across asbestos in the course of their daily work MUST have Asbestos Awareness training* as a minimum. Those working with Asbestos without needing a HSE license must have up to date Non-licensable training* and those in the Asbestos Licensed companies* MUST have up to date training suitable to their role. Employers are duty bound by law to ensure this training is carried out in a suitable and sufficient manner by a competent training provider. The enforcing body, the HSE will expect that all companies are fully compliant as the UK opens up for business again.

By using a UKATA approved training provider you can be sure that the training provider has been carefully checked and independently audited to ensure only the highest quality of training and service. Graham O’Mahony, Asbestos Training Limited Managing Director commented

"It is of vital importance for the health of the workforce and the safety of the public at large that the right training is given in order for work to be carried out in a safe manner with no health risks to those carry out the work or those around the work areas."

Graham also added "I am particularly concerned that those with responsibilities for managing asbestos works and premises with asbestos remaining in situ received the relevant training necessary to ensure they can carry out their duties correctly."
