ATL’s MD re-elected as UKATA Chair

25th September 2019

We’re delighted to announce that Asbestos Training Limited’s Managing Director, Graham Mahony has been re-elected as the Chair of the UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA).

Graham is the only Chair in UKATA’s history to hold the position for two consecutive terms. He was unanimously re-elected at UKATA’s AGM held earlier this year.

He will continue to combine his Managing Director role at Asbestos Training limited (ATL) with the volunteer position of Chair of UKATA.

In his position of Chair Graham leads the 10-strong Board of Directors who provide strategic direction and governance to the Association.

Welcoming Graham’s re-appointment, UKATA Chief Operating Officer Craig Evans said: “Graham’s extensive knowledge of the industry has been key in the development of UKATA. Together we both acknowledge that UKATA can make further impact on improving the industry’s understanding of the dangers of asbestos and we shall be taking a number of exciting developments forward in 2019 and beyond in order to make a very real difference in helping reduce the risks surrounding asbestos.”

Graham has been instrumental in the development of UKATA since its formation in 2008 and its subsequent growth to become the largest not-for-profit asbestos training providers association in the UK.

He brings extensive training and construction experience to the role of UKATA Chair. He has worked in the construction industry for more than 26 years, delivering asbestos training for nearly 20 years and was also an a sbestos surveyor

He is considered a pioneer in the field of asbestos training and standards, and in his hands-on role as UKATA chair, Graham has developed a number of UKATA’s industry-leading courses, including the popular Duty to Manage course.

ATL has been a member of UKATA since it was established in 2008. Its role is to set standards, audit and manage UKATA-approved asbestos training providers like ATL. As a result of the high standards it upholds, UKATA is considered a leading authority in asbestos training provision in the UK.

To ensure that UKATA members deliver the very best industry-recognised training, UKATA is the only asbestos training association that specifies its tutors must prove their competency. Unlike the other membership body, it will not simply accept the completion of an online application form.

ATL offers a range of open courses which can be delivered at our dedicated training centre in Royston, Hertfordshire, or in house and at venues throughout the UK. Find out more about our courses and book your place online here.

ATL also offers the industry’s only UKATA-approved Asbestos Awareness E-Learning course.
